Chemical peels/Skin Peels are one of the most popular cosmetic procedures around today. Chemical peels can give your skin a healthy, "just refreshed" look, or can be aggressive, taking years off of your appearance.
So how does it work? #skinpeel
One of the most popular Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Glycolic Acid is derived from sugar cane and is a natural exfoliator that works wonders on the skin. It has the smallest molecular structure of all AHAs which means it can go deeper into the skin and can get right into the tiny space surrounding dead cells. #getsrightinthere
Glycolic Acid works by loosening and dissolving the 'glue' that is holding these cells onto the stratum corneum (top layer of the skin) which allows these dead cells to shed more easily. This increase in cell turnover also stimulates collagen production, which is why the skin looks so smooth and plump following a Glycolic Acid treatment. #hellogorgeous
What's it used for?
Various skin problems including everything from acne and hyperpigmentation to lacklustre skin and wrinkles. Darkened skin cells caused by UV damage, excess dead cells blocking the pores and too many surface skin cells that dull the complexion are all removed and taken care of by Glycolic Acid.
Often you'll notice glycolic acid in your normal skin care products but this is at a very low concentration. Usually around 4%. When visiting a professional for a peel the concentration is much greater. #betterresults
It's actually really therapeutic! You get comfortable on the couch and start by having a double face cleanse. Once that's complete we apply our 40% Glycolic Acid using a brush to your skin. You'll feel some tingling almost instantly but it's more than tolerable. Your first time? It only stays on your skin for 60 seconds before it's neutralized. We then massage your face with a beautiful balancing moisturizer and finish off with a 24K Gold face mask.
Downtime is minimal. You should expect some redness to the skin for up to a day. There's no actual peeling of the skin either.#bonus
You're provided with a UV filtering moisturizer after treatment which you must apply to the skin daily for a minimum of week but we would advise you to continue applying for around 2 weeks. #youredone
